Perth Busport
Perth Busport is an Australian-first dynamic stand-allocation underground bus station which replaced the ageing Wellington Street Bus Station.
The project provides Perth commuters with one of the world’s most modern and sophisticated bus stations and by moving its operations underground, allows the key thoroughfares of King and Queen streets to reconnect Perth to Northbridge. It is estimated that by 2031, up to 200 buses per hour will use the new Perth Busport.
Cubic was appointed to complete the partitions and ceiling linings to the lounge, bus station and portals and the acoustic insulation. The underground lounge is air-conditioned, contains 160 seats, two kiosks, and digital screens displaying updated departure information. Buses loop around the lounge, which is surrounded by double-glazed glass, and has sixteen stands grouped into four areas, each with four stands.
