Legion House: Base Building & Grocon Head Office Fitout
Legion House and 167 Castlereagh Street are two buildings fronting Castlereagh Street, sharing a common retail plaza with 161 Castlereagh Street Tower Development.
Legion House was an existing four-storey heritage-listed building, originally constructed in 1902 by the YWCA and operated as a women’s hostel and was an outreach service for 60 years. As part of its innovative redevelopment, Legion House was refurbished with an additional two levels along with state-of-the-art technology, making this building one of the most sustainable designs in the world. Legion House was certified by The Green Building Council of Australia with a 6-Star Green Star.
167 Castlereagh St is a new building adjacent to Legion House, containing ground floor retail, two levels of commercial office space and roof level with plant room. Legion House also became the corporate head office for Grocon in Sydney.
Cubic was engaged by Grocon to complete the base building works to both buildings, including the integrated head office fitout on levels 4 & 5 of Legion House. Cubic’s scope of works included: ceilings and partitions; speedpanel; thermal and acoustic insulation; toilet partitions; doors, frames and hardware; skirtings; feature timber baffled ceilings, timber veneer wall panels and mirrors.
